What to know

In Ireland, only a Registered Gas Installer (RGI) can legally install, service or repair a gas boiler. You can check an installer's registration on the Gas Safety Ireland website. Oil boilers are serviced by technicians who work on oil.

A yearly boiler service keeps the boiler safe and efficient, and finds small faults before they leave you without heat.

Common heating problems are radiators cold at the top (they need bleeding), low boiler pressure, and noisy pipes. Say what the boiler is doing and any error code on its display.
